Ten Exceptions to the Fantasy Baseball “Star” Rule

There are certain players in baseball who have been fantasy studs over the first month and a half of the season that would help any team. At the same time, there are players who have overperformed and are bound to come back to life.

In this list, I will point to five players who have been fantasy stars so far and helped your team win that are not going to be able to hold up this level of production throughout the season. I will also list five players who’s skills at the plate or on the mound does not transition well to the fantasy game. They may be decent fantasy players, but they are better assets to their actual team than your fantasy roster.

Basically, I am listing five players who have been great in fantasy that I would not want on my favorite team. And in contrast, I am listing five players who I would love to have on my favorite team but I would not be upset if they didn’t wind up on my fantasy team.

Which Young Combo is better, Hanson-Heyward or Matusz-Wieters?

Earlier this week, I asked a question on my twitter account: “Is there a better young pitcher/hitter combination in baseball than Tommy Hanson and Jason Heyward?”

Jordan from OriolesProspects.com, and @oriolesprospects on twitter, responded with Matt Wieters and Brian Matusz. The question and answer sparked both of our interests, so we decided to construct an article in which Jordan would make the argument for his Orioles, and I would make the argument for the Braves.

We both made our arguments a bit differently. Jordan went with an actual rating system whereas I just posted their numbers. You be the judge, comment below and gives us your thoughts or hit us up on twitter and voice your opinion. I’m @Ben_Duronio and Jordan is @oriolesprospects, as previously mentioned

Here is what we both had to say:

The 10 Reasons Ubaldo Jimenez Deserves To Stand with Halladay, Lincecum

Prior to the season, Roy Halladay and Tim Lincecum were easily the top candidates for the National League Cy Young award.

Lincecum has won the previous two, and perennial AL Cy Young candidate Roy Halladay was moved from the Blue Jays to the Phillies, and the movement from AL to NL almost always benefits the player.

With that said, somebody else has joined the picture.

Ubaldo Jiminez has made a name for himself this year by dominating nearly every start he has made. His incredible start mimics that last year’s AL Cy Young winner, aside from one thing, Jiminez has already thrown a no-hitter.

Here are the he 10 reasons Ubaldo Jiminez deserves to stand with Halladay and Lincecum among the rankings of top pitcher in baseball.

The 10 Most Overrated Players in Major League Baseball

There are plenty of baseball players that are not given their due. To contrast, there are plenty of players that are given far too much credt, and those players will be mentioned in this article.

The criteria to make this list is simple. Fans and media alike talk about this player far too much for how much they actually produce, and while some of these players are very productive, they are still given too much praise.

A player cannot make the list if he is simply old, so despite everyone in baseball still loving Ken Griffey Jr., he won’t make the list simply because he is in the twilight of his career.

Some on this list may surprise you on impact, but once you read the article you will see that the numbers do not agree with the love these players get.
