David Ortiz Says Dream Job Would Be Porn Star If He Weren’t a Baseball Player

If David Ortiz wasn’t playing under the lights at Fenway Park, he would be starring on a much different stage.

When the Players’ Tribune handed the Boston Red Sox designated hitter a list of 10 questions for the website’s “What the (Blank)?” series, he scribbled in one particularly interesting answer.

His dream job (if he weren’t an athlete)? Wait for it…porn star.

Yes, as in someone who appears in adult films.

He also named Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back” as his current guilty pleasure song (which he actually cited as “I like big butt”) and the Notorious B.I.G.’s famous “I love it when you call me Big Poppa” line as the best song lyric of all time—so yeah, definitely a trend there.

He also wrote down Denzel Washington as the actor he’d like to play him in a movie about his life, though it would’ve been a very different role for the Academy Award-winning actor if Ortiz had pursued his other dream.

White Sox Pitcher John Danks Loses Bet, Has to Warm Up in a Leprechaun Suit

The luck of the Irish wasn’t on the side of John Danks.

After losing a bet to broadcaster Ed Farmer, the Chicago White Sox pitcher rolled up to U.S. Cellular Field for warm-ups ahead of Friday’s game against the Minnesota Twins dressed as a leprechaun—green bow tie and all.

Danks pulled the look off pretty well—so well he could likely get a gig advertising cereal after the professional baseball stint ends.

Nike Unveils Mike Trout’s Second Signature Shoe, the ‘Nike Lunar Trout 2’

On Friday, Nike unveiled Mike Trout‘s second signature cleat, the Nike Lunar Trout 2, which will also be available as a turf shoe—a first for the Los Angeles Angels center fielder.

The company tapped what it described as Trout’s “otherworldly athletic abilities” for the launch colorway, the Nike Lunar Trout 2 Blueprint, which will be available exclusively on Nike.com on October 3.

It features some of the reigning American League MVP’s most notable stats—the 20 mph speed he reaches between first and third base, the 60 inches he can jump to catch a fly ball and the 489 feet he can slug a home run.

The other colorways will be available online and at select retailers the same release day.

Trout recently spoke with Bleacher Report, naming LeBron James as the athlete he would most like to switch places with.

He also took a neutral stance on the Drake vs. Meek Mill beef, though Drake’s “6 God” has sounded through Angel Stadium of Anaheim every time Trout has stepped up to the plate this season.

Joey Votto Goes Nuts on Ump After Being Thrown Out of Game

Tensions ran high at Great American Ball Park when Reds first baseman Joey Votto was ejected in the eighth inning of Cincinnati’s 5-4 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday.

Pitcher Tony Watson dealt a called second strike on the outside corner to Votto, who argued umpire Bill Welke’s call on the 1-1 pitch and was ultimately thrown out.

That’s when things escalated. Votto slammed his helmet to the ground and tossed his bat before getting in Welke’s face in a series of events that lasted more than a minute.

Manager Bryan Price was also ejected for arguing the strike call.

Votto struck out twice in three at-bats, and the loss dropped the Reds to 57-81 on the season.

Braves Outfielder Jonny Gomes Pitches One Eventful Inning of Relief

There are moments rare enough that you try everything in your power to keep them etched in your memory—like when Jonny Gomes pitches an inning of relief for the Atlanta Braves.

Yes, Jonny Gomes, the left fielder.

Down 10 runs to the New York Yankees after burning through five pitchers in the first eight innings of Friday’s eventual 15-4 loss, the Braves called Gomes out of the bullpen for his major league pitching debut.

The right-hander’s reaction to giving up a home run to the first batter he faced, Chris Young, was priceless—tipping his hat as the outfielder rounded the bases.

He surrendered back-to-back doubles, while another run crossed the plate on a sac fly. But he ended his appearance on a high note by striking out pitcher Bryan Mitchell.

He pitched steadily in the mid-to-high 60s, grazing as high as 76 mph on one fastball, and even channeled his inner Luis Tiant during the amusing outing.

Gomes was the first position player to pitch for Atlanta since then-catcher Josh Russell did in 1989.

Rays’ Kevin Kiermaier Strikes a Pose on Outfield Wall While Trying to Rob HR

Kansas City Royals designated hitter Kendrys Morales sat on Erasmo Ramirez’s fastball in the third inning, driving it deep to center field.

But before Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier could make out what was happening as the ball hit the catwalk, he made a mad dash for the wall to try to rob Morales of his two-run shot.

The ball bounced off the catwalk and fell back onto the field as Kiermaier sat atop the wall, striking a pose:

The officials upheld the call as a home run upon review, giving the Royals a 3-1 lead.

Blue Jays’ Josh Donaldson Crushes Home Run vs. Tigers That Reaches 5th Deck

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a…baseball?

Josh Donaldson crushed Matt Boyd’s 93 mph fastball in the third inning Friday, sending it flying toward the fifth deck at Rogers Centre to give the Toronto Blue Jays a 3-1 lead over the Detroit Tigers.

At an estimated 444 feet, the third baseman’s shot wasn’t even his longest of the season, as ESPN Stats & Info noted:

It was his 35th homer of 2015, matching Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis for the second-most in MLB.
