Fan Creates Mashup of ‘Perfect Strangers’ and the Chicago Cubs

Major League Baseball and ’90s sitcoms go together like peanut butter and jelly, or something like that.

Presumably drawing inspiration from the San Francisco Giants‘ rendition of the Full House theme song and another compilation of the Family Matters intro, starring the Pittsburgh Pirates, one fan mashed the Perfect Strangers opening to feature the Chicago Cubs.

Similar to the Pirates installment, the team didn’t shoot actual footage special to the video like the Giants did, since it was also fan-made. But it is regionally sound, as you might recall the television show was set in Chicago.

Mets Pitcher Aids in Out Using Hacky Sack-Style Kick

The New York Mets kept Thursday night’s extra-innings game against the host Philadelphia Phillies alive even longer when pitcher Carlos Torres and first baseman Daniel Murphy combined to turn an interesting play at first.

With two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning, Phillies right fielder Jeff Francoeur sent a ground ball racing toward Torres on the mound.

The right-hander kicked it as if it were a Hacky Sack, redirecting it to Murphy, who tossed it up from the ground into Torres’ glove, barely beating Francoeur to the bag.

The putout ended the inning, leaving the game tied at 5-5.

Madison Bumgarner Performs Pirouette-Like Move to Make Play at 1st Base

Madison Bumgarner channeled his inner dancer in the third inning of Thursday’s 9-1 win over the Chicago Cubs, performing a pirouette-like move to make a play at first base.

San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt fielded Kyle Schwarber’s ground ball, tossing it to Bumgarner, who reached across his shoulders to make the catch while spinning to land with his foot on the bag.

The lefty limited the Cubs to two hits and one run in six innings at AT&T Park.

Pittsburgh Pirates Fan Creates Mashup of ‘Family Matters’ Intro Featuring Team

Last week, the San Francisco Giants released their rendition of the Full House theme, dubbed “Full Clubhouse,” to promote an upcoming home date themed after the show.

But it was the Pittsburgh Pirates‘ turn in this week’s edition of “MLB team meets ’90s sitcom,” thanks to one fan who mashed footage of the team with the Family Matters intro.

Nationals’ Michael Taylor Hits Longest Major League Home Run of 2015

Coors Field might be notoriously hitter-friendly, but there is no earthly explanation for Michael Taylor‘s 493-foot home run blast Thursday night.

The Washington Nationals center fielder crushed Colorado Rockies pitcher Yohan Flande’s first offering in the seventh inning at-bat to left-center, evening the score at 2-2.

The two-run shot is the longest homer of the 2015 season, as pointed out by the Denver Post‘s Patrick Saunders:

Tigers Pitcher Daniel Norris Hits Home Run in 1st Major League At-Bat

Detroit Tigers pitcher Daniel Norris continues to set himself apart from the crowd.

In his fourth start since arriving in Detroit by way of the same trade that sent David Price to the Toronto Blue Jays in July, Norris hit a home run in his first major league at-bat.

The two-run shot to deep center extended the Tigers’ lead over the Chicago Cubs to 3-0.

The last pitcher to do that? Tommy Milone (for the Washington Nationals) in 2011, per ESPN’s Jonah Keri:

The power apparently isn’t news.

According to Michigan Live’s James Schmehl, the lefty temporarily put out two panels on the video board at Wrigley Field while slugging home runs during batting practice ahead of Tuesday’s 10-8 win.

Juan Perez Climbs the Wall to Rob Stephen Piscotty of Solo Home Run

Unfortunately for St. Louis Cardinals right fielder Stephen Piscotty, Juan Perez’s spidey senses were tingling Wednesday afternoon.

The San Francisco Giants center fielder made a stunning catch in the bottom of the first inning, scaling the wall at Busch Stadium to rob Piscotty of a solo home run shot.

Despite Perez’s efforts, however, the Cardinals took a one-run lead two batters later when catcher Yadier Molina singled on a line drive to bring shortstop Jhonny Peralta home.

Alexi Amarista Fields Ground Ball, Flips It from Glove to Spark Double Play

San Diego Padres shortstop Alexi Amarista sparked a double play Wednesday that will make you do a double take. But be careful—you might experience some mild whiplash.

Down one run in the sixth inning at Petco Park, Atlanta Braves outfielder Adonis Garcia hit a sharp ground ball—but not sharp enough to escape the Padres shortstop.

Amarista chased the ball down and then spun around to flip it directly from his glove to second baseman Jedd Gyorko. Nick Markakis was out at second before Gyorko turned the double play to get Garcia at first.

The Padres preserved their one-run lead, eventually winning 3-2 to finish the three-game sweep.

Clayton Kershaw Slams Ball on Field, Throws It into Dugout in Frustration

With two outs and Oakland Athletics third baseman Danny Valencia at the plate with a 1-2 count, Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw offered a fastball he thought would end the third inning.

But the pitch was too far outside.

Valencia got a piece of the ace’s next offering, sending Kershaw off the mound to try to field the ground ball headed toward third base—but he botched it. The ball bounced away from his glove a few times, and he couldn’t make the play at first.

Valencia got the hit, and frustration got the best of Kershaw.

The lefty slammed the ball on the ground and fired it into the dugout before returning to the mound.

He struck out the next batter, Josh Phegley, as the A’s held on to a 1-0 lead.

Alex Rodriguez Hits Grand Slam vs. Twins, Record 25th All-Time

Alex Rodriguez padded his record for most grand slams in MLB history Tuesday night when he crushed the ball just right of center field for a go-ahead blast.

It was the 25th grand slam of his career and gave the New York Yankees a 5-4 lead over the Minnesota Twins in the seventh inning of an 8-4 win. Rodriguez is now two grand slams ahead of Lou Gehrig, who ranks second all-time with 23.

And in case you missed it, #BAEROD is now definitely a thing:
