Fetty Wap Stops by to Say ‘Hey, What’s Up? Hello’ to the Royals

Fetty Wap made his way to Kauffman Stadium to say, “Hey, what’s up? Hello” to some of his biggest fans: the Kansas City Royals.

The team’s affinity for the rapper started with his single “Trap Queen,” which the players pulled inspiration from to eventually start working “1738” into postgame interviews.

And so fittingly, “1738” shirts were broken out for the occasion.

And though the song is likely already a staple of their batting-practice playlist, the Royals surely didn’t forget to play it while he was there.

Fetty Wap’s crew even got to take a crack at the cages.

Fan Breaks World Record for Farthest Washing Machine Throw at Reds Game

Yes, you read that right.

A washing machine.

Sean McCarthy threw a washing machine to set a Guinness World Record at Great American Ball Park after last Friday’s Cincinnati Reds game.

He chucked it 15 feet and nine inches.

Try to envision someone tossing a washing machine over the length of two Yao Mings lying down, because that’s essentially what that was.

Here’s another angle (and thank you to whoever put it in slow motion):

His throw broke the previous record of 13 feet and 6.6 inches reportedly set by Lithuanian Zydrunas Savickas in Italy.

The toss was initially scheduled for July 17, but weather conditions delayed McCarthy’s attempt to July 31.

Not that you can really schedule a time to make history.

Blue Jays’ Kevin Pillar Goes Airborne for Jaw-Dropping Catch in Center Field

Down 9-3 with two outs and a runner on first in the top of the eighth inning Thursday night, the Minnesota Twins‘ Miguel Sano hit a deep line drive to center for what would have been a clean extra-base hit…had it not been for Kevin Pillar.

The Toronto Blue Jays outfielder sprinted to make a diving catch at the Rogers Centre’s warning track that was so incredible it looked as though he almost hovered in midair.

Toronto pitcher Bo Schultz sure looked relieved.

The Blue Jays held on to win 9-3, wrapping up a four-game sweep of the Twins before heading to New York for a three-game series against the Yankees, which begins Friday.

Barry Bonds Snaps Selfie with Sleeping Willie Mays

Barry Bonds turned what looked to be a cringeworthy prank into a heartwarming message to his godfather, Willie Mays.

Yes, he snapped a selfie with a sleeping Mays. Then he posted it to Instagram for 17,300 of his closest friends.

Call it what you might, but given the caption, we’re pretty sure Bonds really just thought he was capitalizing on an opportune time to show his appreciation.

Here’s what he wrote:

Yes he sleep. #SayHey Willie Mays and yes I sleep next to him. I am so proud to have the best God Father in the world. 😀❤️⚾️ I Love you and everything that you have done for me and my family Willie.

Endearing, right?

Umpire Loses His Cool, Charges Mound to Confront Cubs’ Jon Lester

Emotions were running high at Wrigley Field on Thursday when home plate umpire Andy Fletcher lost his cool, charging the mound to exchange words with Jon Lester.

The Chicago Cubs pitcher had just issued a walk to A.J. Ellis in the second inning of the 4-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers when catcher David Ross had to chase Fletcher down and stand in his way.

Chicago manager Joe Maddon eventually intervened and took over the confrontation, protecting his players from getting into it with an official.

It’s unclear what incited the incident, but according to the Chicago Tribune‘s Mark Gonzales, Lester claimed to not have said anything directly to Fletcher.

“I don’t know why (Fletcher) was so upset,” he said. “I had my head down when I was yelling. He went AWOL. I don’t know what was going on. It has nothing to do with umpire’s strike zone.”

Phillies’ Freddy Galvis Drops Perfect Bunt Against Yankees

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Freddy Galvis laid down a masterful bunt in the fourth inning of Monday’s 11-8 win over the New York Yankees.

And we mean masterful.

The ball stopped right on the edge of the third-base line.

Galvis got a single out of it before eventually scoring on a double by second baseman Cesar Hernandez, whose line drive to right field lifted the Phillies to a 6-2 lead with one out.

Nationals’ Denard Span Robs Todd Frazier of HR by Knocking Ball Back onto Field

It’s going…it’s going…it’s…

…still in play.

Cincinnati Reds third baseman Todd Frazier was robbed of a home run in the eighth inning Saturday, thanks to Washington Nationals outfielder Denard Span.

Span leaped over the wall and batted the ball with his glove to keep it in play, holding Frazier to a double and keeping the Nationals ahead 5-4.

The Nationals ended up losing 8-5. But we promise your valiant effort did not go unappreciated, Denard.
