We Remember: Kerry Wood Ties Major League Record with 20 K’s in 9 Innings

On May 6, 1998, Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood, who was just 20 years old at the time, tied Roger Clemens’ major league record with 20 strikeouts during a nine-inning game vs. the Houston Astros.

She wasn’t happy about it. 

Watch as a guy in the stands spills his beer all over his date while going for a foul ball during the fifth inning of Monday’s Rockies-Diamondbacks game. The worst part? The guy next to them ended up with the ball.

Yankees-Red Sox Spring Training Game Briefly Delayed Due to Bees

Bees caused a seven-minute delay during the third inning of Tuesday’s spring training game between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. 

The buzzing insects took over left field at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa before stadium workers removed them using spray. 

Mark Teixeira looked to be a hero with two bottles of honey as the grounds crew worked to remove the bees.

MLB Umpire Carted off the Field After Taking a Line Drive Below the Belt

Third-base umpire Brad Myers was drilled in the groin area on a line drive hit by Brandon Phillips during the second inning of Monday’s spring-training game between the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds. 

Phillips’ liner was hammered to the left side of the infield, in the gap between second and third during the second inning. Myers attempted to jump over the liner, but didn’t quite clear it. 

Play was delayed for nine minutes as Myers was being tended to.

Myers was carted off the field, but he tipped his hat to the crowd on the way out.

Arizona Diamondbacks Unveil 18-Inch Corn Dog Called the ‘D-Bat Dog’

Behold the new “D-bat dog,” unveiled by the Arizona Diamondbacks. 

According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, this corn dog is 18 inches long and stuffed with cheese and bacon. It comes with a side of fries and will cost you $25. 

Large food servings are nothing new to MLB stadiums. In 2012, the Washington Nationals served an eight-pound hamburger called “The StrasBurger.”

Mike Trout Hits Grand Slam in Angels vs. Cubs Spring Training Game

Fresh off his new record contract, Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout hit a grand slam during the bottom of the fourth inning of Friday’s spring training game against the Chicago Cubs. 

It was Trout’s fifth RBI of the game and gave the Angels a 9-1 lead.

Magic Johnson Looks Worried, Tommy Lasorda Caught Sleeping During Dodgers Game?

It was a rough third inning for the Dodgers. Clayton Kershaw gave up four runs in the inning, matching his total from his first 21 innings this postseason, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

Obviously, Dodgers owner Magic Johnson was concerned. 

While it appears Tommy Lasorda was sleeping.

It wouldn’t be the first time Lasorda has been caught napping during a game.

25th Anniversary of Kirk Gibson’s Dramatic World Series Home Run

Twenty-five years later, we remember Kirk Gibson’s dramatic home run off Dennis Eckersley in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series. 

The Dodgers put Gibson, who had injuries to both legs and was not expected to play in the series, in as a pitch hitter with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, and he responded with a two-run walk off home run to give Los Angeles a 5-4 win.
