Hunter Pence Perfects the Art of Proposing by Popping the Question at Disney

San Francisco Giants outfielder Hunter Pence went all-out to give his girlfriend, Alexis Cozombolidis, a proposal she will never forget.

The setting: Disney World, the place where dreams come true.

With the castle in the background, Pence got down on one knee and let Cozombolidis know how much she meant to him. Not too long into the proposal, fireworks started going off in the background, making this the perfect proposal.

The trip to Disney World was totally worth it—Cozombolidis said “yes.”

Bryce Harper Butchers Pronunciation of ‘Meme’ After Winning 2015 NL MVP

Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper may have been unanimously voted the 2015 National League Most Valuable Player on Thursday, but that doesn’t mean he’s perfect.

Just check out the Vine above if you need proof.

Harper went on SportsCenter Thursday after winning the NL MVP award earlier that night. At one point in the interview with anchor Scott Van Pelt, the 23-year-old Nationals star talked about “memes.” Or as he put it, “meh-mays.”

With that pronunciation, he probably just created a new meme, meh-may, whatever it’s called.

You better believe hecklers will be shouting, “How do you pronounce ‘memes’?” at Harper for years to come. And of course, Harper will just look at them and say, “That’s a clown question, bro.”

Cleveland Indians Troll Fans by Jokingly Inviting Them to Play Game at Ballpark

On Wednesday afternoon, the Cleveland Indians were giving fans the opportunity of a lifetime to play a baseball game in a major league ballpark.

However, it took less than a minute for the team to crush those dreams.

The Indians sent out a tweet that invited 18 fans to come to Progressive Field and play a game on this pleasant November afternoon. Too-small baseball mitts were being dusted off all around Cleveland.

Unfortunately for the fans, it was just a joke:

Sorry, Cleveland fans. There isn’t another game at Progressive Field until April 4, 2016.

It takes a bold team to troll its own fanbase. Any team that does so has to be prepared to deal with the consequences. After revealing that this wasn’t a serious offer, the Indians had to deal with some disappointed people—and some trolls:

Given Cleveland’s attendance woes in recent seasons, there was, of course, a “You guys can’t even draw 18 fans to your games” comment. Don’t worry, the Indians were prepared for that.

Kudos to the Indians finding a way to have some fun in the offseason. With about five months to go, Cleveland fans had better be wary of the team’s Twitter account this winter.

Multiple Kansas City Schools Cancel Class to Celebrate Royals’ World Series Win

The Kansas City Royals are World Series champions for the first time in 30 years, and in honor of the accomplishment, some Kansas City-area schools are canceling classes Tuesday so students and staff can go to the victory parade.

When the Royals beat the New York Mets in Game 5 to win the 2015 World Series, school districts in Royals country faced a difficult decision: Should they have class as usual Tuesday, or should they close for the day to let everyone celebrate with the team?

It’s undoubtedly an interesting dilemma.

After discussing the situation, some schools made the decision Monday that they would not hold classes on the day of the victory parade:

Perhaps those schools anticipated an extraordinary number of absences, by both students and staff. It just made the most sense to these schools to close for the day and let everyone enjoy the championship.

While some schools decided to shut down in honor of the Royals, others will stay open. With all due respect to the schools that will hold classes Tuesday, what will the kids—and adults, for that matter—remember more: the history lesson from Nov. 3, 2015, or a championship celebration?

Again, Kansas City hadn’t won a World Series in 30 years. As much talent as the Royals have, who knows when something like this will happen again? This isn’t Boston, which has nine major sports championships since 2002. Every Kansas City-area school should just chalk this up as a snow day and let people enjoy what could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

There’s no arguing the importance of education. However, there are certain events that will allow a community to bond and give everyone memories that will last a lifetime. In those rare instances, schools should be able to give everyone a day off.

New York Mets Salute Citi Field Crowd After World Series Loss

The New York Mets saw their 2015 season end in heartbreaking fashion with a 7-2 extra-innings loss in Game 5 of the World Series on Sunday night, but even in defeat, the club showed a lot of class.

After taking some time to process things in the clubhouse, the Mets returned to the field to thank fans for their support throughout the season. Just a great show of respect by the team.

The Mets knew entering Game 5 that it would be their last home game of the year, regardless of the result. It just wasn’t the way they wanted to go out. However, they didn’t let that stop them from returning the love to the Citi Field crowd.

Johnny Cueto’s Brother Reportedly Gets Mistaken for Royals Star by Reporter

Look at the photo above and try to figure out which person is Kansas City Royals pitcher Johnny Cueto.

It’s tough, isn’t it? Now imagine being a reporter looking for an interview with Cueto when both Johnny and his brother, Danillo, are in the same room. That’s rough.

On Wednesday night, Johnny Beisbol threw an absolute gem against the New York Mets in Game 2 of the 2015 World Series. He allowed one run on two hits—both to Mets first baseman Lucas Duda—over nine innings, leading Kansas City to a 7-1 victory. Most importantly, that dominant performance gave his team a 2-0 series lead.

Obviously Johnny was who reporters wanted to talk to after the game. Well, according to Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com, one reporter had a tough time telling Johnny apart from Danillo:

Given the uncanny resemblance, we may have to give the reporter a pass. It can be tough to tell the two apart—even for someone who spent seven-plus seasons watching Cueto pitch for the Cincinnati Reds.

Per Castrovince, Danillo says he frequently is mistaken for his brother:

The freaky thing is there is a third Cueto brother who also bears a striking resemblance to Johnny:

When those three are in the clubhouse together, good luck to reporters. Their best bet would be to hope Johnny stays in full uniform for the postgame media session.

Alex Rodriguez Overthrows Target, Breaks Screen on 1st Day at Fox Sports

As of Sunday, New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez was officially a member of the Fox Sports crew.

It didn’t take long for him to leave his mark at the studio—literally.

Rodriguez joined the network as an analyst for the 2015 MLB playoffs, according to Fox Sports, and the Yankees star was in the studio for the Fox NFL Sunday pregame show this week. That’s where he relived his days as a high school quarterback.

The result:

Rodriguez’s target, Jay Glazer, had this to say:

As for Rodriguez, he vowed to be more careful in the future:

This is just another example of why you shouldn’t throw the ball indoors.

President Barack Obama Congratulates Chicago Cubs on Advancing to NLCS

President Barack Obama has made it known he is a Chicago White Sox fan, but as a true Chicagoan, he can’t help but support the Chicago Cubs during their exciting playoff run.

After finishing in third place in the National League Central, the Cubs have beaten the two teams that finished ahead of them in the division—the Pittsburgh Pirates and the St. Louis Cardinals—in back-to-back rounds. Chicago advanced to the NL Championship Series with a 6-4 victory over the Cardinals in Game 4 of the NL Division Series on Tuesday night, leading President Obama to congratulate the team from the North Side:

The Cubs appreciated the support:

You may recall that President Obama chose not to follow the Cubs when he first joined Twitter earlier this year. However, he has since started following the club. Now, not only is Mr. President a follower, but he’s a bit of a supporter—for the time being, at least.

Cubs Fans Troll Pirates in Pittsburgh Ahead of NL Wild Card Game

As the people of Pittsburgh found out Wednesday, “Bucs” is a simple anagram of “Cubs.”

That set the stage for a fantastic troll job by Chicago Cubs fans.

The Pirates host the Cubs at PNC Park on Wednesday night in the National League Wild Card Game. It’s a win-or-go-home tilt, so the city of Pittsburgh is doing what it can to support the Pirates and create a home-field advantage.

That advantage isn’t looking so great, though—and the game is still hours away.

A Cubs fan (or a few fans) saw the “Let’s Go Bucs” sign in the windows above The Beer Market across from the ballpark and decided it would be fun to mess with. With a simple flipping of letters, fans tweaked the sign to make the Cubs feel right at home.

Well done, Cubs fans. Well done.

Texas Rangers Introduce Wild New Concession-Stand Items for 2015 Playoffs

As if watching the American League West champions play in the postseason wasn’t a good enough reason, the Texas Rangers have introduced new concession-stand items that should draw fans to Globe Life Park this October.

ESPN’s Darren Rovell and David Duitch of the Dallas Morning News tweeted out pictures of the Rangers’ new food items, and Sarah Blaskovich of GuideLive reported what the prices will be. Anyone who is a fan of combining different foods and trying new things should keep reading.

Perhaps the craziest new item is the “Sweet Spot Cotton Candy Dog” ($10), a hot dog packed with sugar. No ketchup or relish is needed because it is topped with “cotton candy-infused mustard” and cotton candy.

Although that crazy combination alone would get some fans interested, the Rangers didn’t stop there.

Putting another spin on hot dogs, the Inside Out Hot Dog ($26) will be served with a pretzel roll:

But wait, there’s more. Ladies and gentlemen, the Elvis Jabberdog brownie ($26):

Per Blaskovich, there is also an Elvis Jabberdog Junior ($13), which is half the size of the original.

Last but not least, the one-pound Top-n-Go Cheetos ($26):

That’s a bag of Cheetos filled with cheese, meat, sour cream and jalapenos.

It’s safe to say Rangers fans won’t go hungry at the ballpark this postseason. They may go broke, though.
