Chance the Rapper Throws out First Pitch at Chicago White Sox Game

Recording artist Chance the Rapper was invited to throw out the first pitch in his hometown Friday, and fortunately, he was able to avoid embarrassing himself like 50 Cent did.

Before the Chicago White Sox played the San Diego Padres, Chance tossed the ceremonial ball. He looked poised on the mound, and while his throw was a bit lofty, it successfully reached home plate.

Cardinals’ Oscar Taveras Hits Home Run for First Career Hit

Welcome to The Show, Oscar Taveras.

The 21-year-old St. Louis Cardinals rookie made his MLB debut on Saturday against the San Francisco Giants, and he made sure to start his career on a high note. In his second at-bat in the bottom of the fifth inning, Taveras got his first career hit on a home run to right field.

The Cardinals called up Taveras on Friday evening to replace Matt Adams, who was put on the disabled list with a left calf strain. After hitting .325 in the minors with seven home runs and 49 RBI in 40 games in 2014, Taveras wasted little time getting his bat acquainted to the big leagues.

Chicago Cubs Auctioning off Chair Masahiro Tanaka Sat in

The Chicago Cubs split their series against the New York Yankees, and now that the series is over, the team is auctioning off the chair that Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka sat in while in the locker room.

For some reason, the chair is being auctioned off to commemorate Derek Jeter’s final game at Wrigley Field. Tanaka pitched during the series, but he didn’t do particularly well, giving up four runs in six innings while earning the loss.

As of Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET, the chair was selling for $310.

To prepare for his team’s “Turn Back the Clock” game against the Milwaukee Brewers, Dozier claimed he could solve a Rubik’s Cube in 90 seconds. Some of his teammates were intrigued, so they wanted to see what he could do.

The 27-year-old was close, finishing in 96 seconds.

Benches Clear During Red Sox-Rays Game, 4 Boston Members Ejected

After the two teams got in a scuffle last week, the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays cleared the benches once again on Friday.

UPDATE: Saturday, May 31 at 1:55 p.m. ET

David Ortiz was not happy with Price’s pitch, and he had some choice words to say to the Rays pitcher, according to CSNNE.com:

You can’t be acting like a little girl out there. You’re not going to win every time. When you give it up, that’s an experience for the next time. If you’re going act like a little [expletive] when you give it up, bounce back and put your teammates in jeopardy, that’s going to cost you.

He knew he screwed up. He did that on his own. No manager sent him. No player was comfortable with the situation. He did that on his own. Which is (expletive). He can get somebody else hurt. You can’t be doing that (stuff).

It’s on. Next time [Price] better bring the gloves. I have no respect for him no more.

—End of update—

Rays pitcher David Price hit Mike Carp with a pitch in the fourth inning, bringing both teams out of their respective dugouts. Ortiz, who was also hit by a pitch in the first inning of the game, was especially upset and started shouting loudly at Price and in the direction of James Loney.

According to Gordon Edes from ESPNBoston.com, four members of the Red Sox were ejected during the game. Starting pitcher Brandon Workman, third base coach Brian Butterfield, manager John Farrell and bench coach Torey Lovullo were all sent to the showers early.

Despite all of the ejections, Boston still won, 3-2, in 10 innings.

50 Cent Throws Out Dreadful First Pitch at New York Mets Game

Congratulations to Carly Rae Jepsen, the Cincinnati mayor and countless others, as there might just be a new contender for the worst opening pitch.

Rapper 50 Cent threw out the first pitch on Tuesday before the New York Mets took on the Pittsburgh Pirates at Citi Field, but it wasn’t pretty. The throw was awkward, and the ball sailed far to the left of the catcher, making everyone wonder if the Queens native is really left-handed.

Fortunately for 50 Cent, he doesn’t have to throw a baseball in order to make music or commercials for Vitamin Water.

Derek Jeter Singles out Young Yankees Fan at Busch Stadium to Give Him a Ball

As Derek Jeter continues his farewell tour across the country, MLB teams have been paying tribute with plenty of gifts. At the same time, the 39-year-old shortstop has been making sure to thank the New York Yankees fans for coming out to the games.

During Monday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium, Jeter singled out a young Yankees fan while in the dugout, throwing him a baseball. The kid was obviously thrilled, and a young Cardinals fan even came up to him to give him a high five.

Phillies Beer Vendor Catches Foul Ball Using Bucket on Top of Head

The Philadelphia Phillies scored a big 5-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday, but the best play of the game didn’t come from any of the players.

During the bottom of the sixth inning, Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz hit a foul ball to right field. The ball went right toward a beer vendor, who accidentally ended up catching it with the beer bucket on top of his head.

The vendor received plenty of cheers and high fivesrightfully so.

Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera Messes with Adrian Beltre’s Head at 3rd Base

Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre is apparently not a fan of people touching his head.

During Friday night’s game between the Rangers and Detroit Tigers, Miguel Cabrera decided to have some fun with Beltre, patting him on the head while standing at third base. Beltre didn’t seem to like that too much, as he retaliated with an attempted shot below the belt.

Fortunately, it looked like both players were laughing about it after the exchange. The Tigers ended up winning 7-2, putting them at 28-16 for the season.

Marlins’ Giancarlo Stanton Blasts 2 Solo Home Runs vs. Brewers

Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton continues to show off his power this season, as he’s developing into one of the best home-run hitters in the MLB.

During Friday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers, Stanton got off to a quick start, blasting this home run to center field in the first inning.

But Stanton wasn’t done there. In the bottom of the seventh, he crushed his second home run of the day, with this one going all the way to the back of the stands in left field.

After Friday, Stanton now had 14 home runs on the season, leading the National League. Unfortunately, his two home runs weren’t enough, as the Marlins lost 9-5 to the Brewers to move to 25-24 on the season.
