Here’s a look at some unheralded players who played well yesterday.
Luke Hochevar, Kansas City Royals
Hochevar threw a complete game, allowing three runs on four hits with seven Ks, to improve to 4-2 with a 5.37 ERA.
Laynce Nix, Cincinnati Reds
Nix went 3-for-5 with a HR and three RBI. He’s hitting .217 on the year, so don’t get too excited.
Brooks Conrad, Atlanta Braves
Conrad hit a pinch-hit grand slam off Francisco Cordero. He doesn’t get enough ABs to concern yourself with him.
Troy Glaus, Atlanta Braves
Glaus went 3-for-4 with a run. He’s now hitting .289 on the year.
Jeremy Bonderman, Detroit Tigers
Bonderman gave up one run on three hits over six innings with eight Ks to improve to 2-2 with a 4.43 ERA.
Luke Scott, Baltimore Orioles
Scott went 3-for-4 with his 20th RBI. He is now hitting .283.
David Murphy, Texas Rangers
Murphy went 3-for-5 with an RBI. He’s hitting just .238, and Nelson Cruz’s return hurts his value.
Juan Miranda, New York Yankees
Miranda went 2-for-3 with three runs, a HR, and two RBI. He’s hitting .250.
Ike Davis, New York Mets
Davis went 3-for-5 with three runs to raise his average to .289.
