New York Mets pitcher Bartolo Colon is in the middle of just his second full season in the National League, and he’s still not the best in the batter’s box.
In the bottom of the third inning on Tuesday, the 41-year-old was at the plate against Baltimore Orioles hurler Bud Norris. On an 0-2 count, Colon struck out swinging, losing his helmet in the process.
This wasn’t the first time Colon lost his helmet while taking a swing this season. In mid-April, his helmet went flying when he whacked an RBI single against the Atlanta Braves.
Colon might never get the hang of hitting after spending so many seasons in the American League, but the Mets won’t mind as long as he keeps shutting opposing batters down.
