As of Sunday, New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez was officially a member of the Fox Sports crew.
It didn’t take long for him to leave his mark at the studio—literally.
Rodriguez joined the network as an analyst for the 2015 MLB playoffs, according to Fox Sports, and the Yankees star was in the studio for the Fox NFL Sunday pregame show this week. That’s where he relived his days as a high school quarterback.

New York Mets fans don’t care much for Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Chase Utley at the moment.
A game after his controversial slide took out—and injured—shortstop Ruben Tejada, Utley was on the L.A. bench as the Mets piled on the runs in Game 3 of the National League Division Series.
After superstar Yoenis Cespedes hammered a mammoth three-run dinger in the fourth inning, New York broke out into a “We want Utley!” chant.

In his first game back in New York after his infamous slide in Game 2 of the National League Division Series, Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Chase Utley was booed by the Big Apple faithful.
Thunderously.
Utley was given a two-game suspension for the play, but because his appeal hasn’t been heard yet, he’s eligible to play in Game 3 Monday night. He didn’t start, but the local fans didn’t care.

The Chicago Cubs aren’t playing around.
After St. Louis Cardinals pinch hitter Randal Grichuk hit a fifth-inning home run in Game 2 of the National League Division Series Friday night, he came out for a curtain call.
It was strange. The dinger cut Chicago’s lead to 6-3, the eventual final score. It was big, but certainly not a heroic walk-off in extra innings.
When Cubs catcher Kyle Schwarber belted one out in the second inning of Game 3, the team’s official account dropped a bomb on the Cards.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was trying to do something nice for a local team.
The Houston Astros were leading the Kansas City Royals 6-2 heading into the eighth inning Monday, just six outs away from advancing to the American League Championship Series.
Abbott, ever the opportunist, tweeted out a congratulatory message. But he jumped the gun.
The Royals rattled off five runs in the top of the inning and another two in the ninth to beat the Astros 9-6.
The tweet has since been deleted. But don’t worry, Governor—we saw it.

The rain was coming down during Thursday’s opening contest of the American League Division Series between the Houston Astros and Kansas City Royals.
Seriously, it was pouring:
There was a rain delay in the top of the third, so the Royals grounds crew had to roll out the tarp. One guy almost got eaten alive.
He managed to escape, however. Staring danger in the face has a way of making people faster and stronger—he definitely checked off both the “fight” and “flight” boxes.
Houston won the game, 5-2. But more importantly: Crew member 1, Tarp 0.

The head groundskeeper Trevor Vance said the kid, Adam Wallace, is “doing fine,” per KSHB 41 Kansas City.

Baseball children: still the undefeated featherweight champions of the sports children world.
I’ve covered it before, so I won’t elaborate further on the stranglehold of awesomeness baseball children have on the sector of youth/sports fandom.
What I will do is point your attention toward Cooper Arrieta, son of Chicago Cubs ace Jake Arrieta, who celebrated like a champion after Chicago’s 4-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates in the National League Wild Card Game on Wednesday night.
Having watched his father throw a nine-inning shutout against Pittsburgh, Cooper did the following with a bottle of champagne, because he is a good and thoughtful son:
Strong work, that. Cooper pours champagne with more dexterity than 99 percent of the major leagues.
He’s certainly more deliberate than Dad and his friends:
Good times and great sports babies in Chicago. And don’t worry about the champagne. It’s a good burn!
